Warning!

As I'm sure you know, last night was a night of tornado warnings!  My first real storm away from my mom! Yikes!  I actually stayed in bed the entire time, no hiding under beds, closets, bathtubs.. nope.. I was a big girl! :)  But, the real threat for a tornado was today.. and I regret to inform you that a tragic, devastating twister hit the 8th floor of Pomfret.

Horrific Destruction!

Ooookay, so actually I just really need to do laundry!  But let me tell you, laundry is an ordeal when you live with 800 people and share 10 washers (you're lucky if 8 of them are working at a time).  I don't have to be in a high math class to figure out that's 1 washer for every 100 people.  I sure do hate dealing with the laundry crowd so I always seem to let it get this way.  But hey! It's only spread out like this because I have organized it by loads and first thing in the morning I will be washing clothes!

Since moving to Fayetteville, I have found an awesome church--Cross Church Fayetteville!  Tonight we had an AWESOME lesson on our marriage study.  But I think my favorite part of the service was a song we sang before closing.  God really spoke to me through this song and I would like to share it with you!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT1LWYVnBVw I hope you love it as much as I do!
"There will be no one like You, and no one beside You.
You alone are worthy of ALL praise!"

My mom called today and told me we are officially registered to go to Europe next spring break! Woo! Last spring break I went all over Greece and to Rome and had the absolute best time!  I fell in love with Europe and probably wouldn't have gotten on the plane to come home if that would've been an option, so needless to say I am ECSTATIC to go back!  This trip we are going to Vienna, Venice, and Paris!  AHHH!!! I am just too excited! I really don't want to wait a whole year!  In the mean time, I'm going to look forward to this spring break which is in 3 WEEKS!  Yessss!!!!!  I'm going camping at Cloud 9 four wheeler ranch!  I haven't ever been, but my mom always tells me how much fun it is!

Speaking of mom, she's coming this weekend! Yay! I haven't seen here since Christmas break so it is time!  And with mom's arrival is the arrival of my scooter! Alan bought me a scooter for Christmas so I wouldn't have to hike up the hill; I didn't bring it because it's winter, and I was expecting winter to be too cold to ride.  Well, I was wrong and I can't wait to have it!  When I tell people I have a scooter, most of them say, "Can you drive it?!" Haha, good question.  I will say that I am much better than I was the first night I got it, but I should probably drive it around the parking lot a few times before I go scooting through campus traffic!

I know there are some people who just click on the link to my blog from Facebook or Twitter and maybe don't know me that well. So, I'm going to start telling you one random thing about myself on each blog.  I thought of this first one as I was talking about my scooter. I love motorcycles! My Dad used to have one and I loved to ride!! I think my favorite part is riding on a nice day and doing the motorcycle 'wave' to all the other bikes you pass.. it makes me feel real cool! ;)

I think that's about it!  Tomorrow is Thursday which means I don't have class until 1:30, but I'm gonna set my alarm for earlier than normal so I can do laundry! Blah!

Oh!! One more thing! Be sure to check out Alex's blog, too! arisaacs.blogspot.com
She's awesome and her blog is too! :)

Hope you are having a fabulous week!

I have a plan!

Aw rats, I already skipped a day.  I can tell that an every day blog is going to be an impossible task.  I will tell you that the majority of my day yesterday was spent sleeping so nothing real exciting happened.

Today was GREAT!  The weather was fantastic, my calculus class was cancelled, and I was just in a happy mood!  I also was reassured about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; kinda a big deal. Ha! As a freshman engineer, we have been working all year toward Decision Day.. which is THIS FRIDAY!  This is a day where you stand in front of all the freshman engineers at a big celebration and proclaim the engineering field you are choosing.  First semester we had a different department come and speak to us every Friday.  Since deciding on engineering I thought I would be industrial, but then after hearing departmental info sessions I started to become torn between industrial, civil, and computer.  Maybe I should mention that I skipped class the day of the industrial session so I missed the reassurance I needed that industrial was where I wanted to be.  This semester we had to attend longer information sessions in the evenings that included tours and hands on experience with the department.  Tonight was my last session, and it was industrial.  We saw demonstrations in the robotics lab, got to work with a computer program to solve a real world problem, and spoke with industrial engineering graduates and grad students.  Oh! And we ate and they had industrial engineering cookies! :)  I can honestly say after tonight my decision has never been more clear.  This Friday at approximately 10:30am, I will stand up in front of my peers and confidently say,
"MY NAME IS MADISON FULLER AND I AM GOING TO BE AN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER!"
I'm so excited.  I know it's going to be a long road, that I will not be doing in the 4 years of the ideal plan, but I know that it will all be worth it and I will love what I am doing!

This was my industrial engineering cookie! It made my happy! :)

You know what I love? Google. Really. I swear you can google anything these days! Sometimes there are just little things that drive me absolutely nuts until I know the answer! For example, I sneezed the other day and Alex said "Bless You".  A normal response.. I got to thinking about that and wondered why in the world is that what you say when someone sneezes.  When I think of someone saying "Bless You" I think of that as the response to someone who does something very thoughtful and Godly for others.  Uhmm, I don't know about you but there isn't much Godly about a sneeze to me; I'm not saying I think it's a sacrilegious thing, but it's certainly not what I do to praise Jesus.  Anyways, I googled it!  There is an urban legend that your soul might escape through your nose when you sneeze so people would say "God Bless You" to ward off the devil.  Interesting.  I have pretty bad pollen and dust allergies and have sneezed many times in my life... pretty sure I still have my soul.  I also read that sneezing was a big symptom of the plague and many would say "Bless You" as sympathy toward someone who had the awful disease.  I think I prefer to believe that is where the phrase comes from, rather than thinking it comes from the fact I may lose my soul with a simple sneeze.  Hmm.

Well, that's all I have for now.  I'm off to study for an economics test! Well, I probably won't because it's not actually for another week but I'm trying to motivate myself to do a little at a time so I don't have to cram like usual.  I'll actually probably end up sitting here, eating, and watching tv.

Have a great week!

Sure, I'll make a blog with you.

Alex: "I'm making a blog, you should make one with me.  I'll read yours if you read mine."

Well, I agreed.  I'm not sure how interesting this will be to read, but I will at least entertain myself by reliving my memories as I type them.  Just in case you are reading this and you don't live on the bunk underneath me, I'm going to include background information so you won't be completely confused while I ramble on.

I'm from Highland.  You probably haven't heard of it, and you really haven't missed much.  I had a fantastic life growing up and made many memories with great people in good 'ole Sharp County, but graduating high school and moving to Fayetteville has been the best thing to happen to me.  My new chapter is taking place at the University of Arkansas.  I'm an engineering major which means much of my spare time is spent doing homework.  I'm in the band, which regardless of what many people think, is WAY COOL!  I live in a 12 by 9 foot cube with my roomies, Alex and Bitsy.  Bitsy is a beta fish and Alex is my best friend which isn't a recent development.  We were friends in high school and repeatedly heard the "OMG! You can't room with your best friend, you will hate each other!" speech.  To those who thought that, you were wrong.  We've lived within 5 feet of each other for almost 7 months now and have yet to have an argument.  The majority of my blog stories will probably be about things that the two of us say or do; please refrain from judgement, we already know we're different. :)

Love her. :)

Bitsy!

I agreed to start blogging because I enjoy reading blogs.  However, I realized a problem once I started; the people whose blogs I read have some interesting job or aspect of life that actually gives a purpose to their blog... I don't.  I'm not sure how often I will do this.. maybe daily, weekly.. who knows, but I will just tell you about my day and what's on my mind.  So, if you are looking to read a structured and meaningful blog I will save you the time and tell you to go ahead and stop reading.

I think for this first post I will just give you a little idea of what life is like for me, and give a taste of the kind of things I will be writing about..

Alex and I left Highland with no intention of living there again, so we brought practically everything we own with us.  A room our size, the amount of stuff we have, and two extremely uncoordinated friends make for many of the funny memories we have made. We are about to put a down payment on an apartment and the realization has sunk in that we will be able to find a sensible place for everything soon! Yippee!  We can't wait for the bedroom, living room, and kitchen to be separate!

 The kitchen and laundry area.

The bedroom.  Sheetless beds and cluttered bed posts.  I didn't wanna clean and give you the wrong idea.  And yes, that is in fact a snow saucer under our beds.  Who knew winter was going to be 60 degree days!

I'm not asking for a huge walk in closet, but just a tad more space would be phenomenal.

Me: "Uhhmm, there's ramen noodles in my shoe."
Alex: "Oops, sorry! I probably dropped them when I was making them the other day."

Yes, this was an actual conversation we had.  It's not that ramen noodles in my shoe is really a problem, but it IS really gross that the preparation area of our food is near shoes.

I could sit here and type stories for hours of all the crazy and fun things that have already happen in my one and a half semesters of college but I won't do that.  I will, however, include a few pictures to hit the high points.

These are the AWESOME new people I have met! Chris, Katherine, Kaitlin, Kalen, and Lane! :)

I made my national tv debut at the Cotton bowl marching the 'Big A' before the game!  I am on the top of the A, 7th from the left!  The trip to Dallas was so much fun!  I have a million memories from that trip that I will never stop laughing about!  Not to mention, the HOGS WON! WPS!

Yes, we're 18 and 19 years old and wear footy pajamas.  This particular night we went to the Pomfret Honors Quarters pajama party and won first place! Yeah, we go hard.

This is pretty typical.  I have an obsession with mustaches, which probably sounds a little weird, and honestly I'm not going to try and justify that it's not a weird obsession.  But, we tend to wear them a lot.. even while exfoliating.

This is Michael Fletcher.  He's a real awesome guy.  I don't like to be real public with my personal relationship life so you won't ever know much as far as that is concerned, but I will say this year has been a little rough in that department.  I take every thing as it comes, grow from it, and know God has a plan so I do my best not worry.  With that being said, Michael was recently put into my life and I like him. :)

Thank you for the past few minutes of your life and I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog!  Check back often and I will do my best to entertain you with my random college experiences.  If I could get like 3 or 4 people that aren't Alex or my mom to read this I will feel very cool.

Woopigsooie,
Madison
